How to manage visitor entry with a QR code

A paper register at the gate is slow and hard to search. With Nest, visitors fill in their own details on their phone, the guard sees the request at once, and every entry and exit is saved with a date and time.

Steps

  1. Display the QR code at the gate. The society admin prints or displays the visitor QR code at the gate so every visitor can see it.
  2. Visitor scans and fills the form. The visitor scans the code with any phone camera, enters their name, mobile number and purpose of visit, and chooses the flat they are going to. They do not install anything.
  3. Guard checks the request. The request appears on the guard's screen and for the host flat. The guard checks it and lets the visitor in.
  4. Mark entry and exit. The guard marks the visitor as in, and marks them out when they leave. Nest keeps the history.

Tips

  • Keep the QR code at a place where people stop anyway, such as the gate cabin window.
  • The society admin can look back through past visitors by date or flat when needed.

Questions

What if a visitor does not have a smartphone?

The guard can still note the visitor at the gate. Visitors with a phone simply save the guard the typing.

Who sees visitor details?

The host flat and the guards and admin of that society. Other societies on Nest never see them.

Can we log visitors for the clubhouse too?

Yes. A visitor log can be switched on for an amenity with its own QR code.
