How to record society expenses and see reports

The treasurer should be able to answer "how much did we collect and spend this month?" without a separate spreadsheet. In Nest, bills and amenity income arrive on their own, and you add the expenses.

Steps

  1. Let income arrive by itself. Paid maintenance bills and paid amenity bookings become part of your income records. You do not enter them twice.
  2. Record each expense. Add the expense with a title, the amount and the date, for example electricity, repairs or staff costs.
  3. See income and spending together. Look at income and expenses side by side to see how the society is doing this month.
  4. Download a report. Download amenity-wise income as a CSV file for any date range. It opens in Excel and can be given to the committee or an accountant.

Tips

  • Record an expense on the day it happens, while the bill is in your hand.
  • Only the society admin sees accounts; residents see their own bills only.

Questions

Does Nest replace our accountant?

No. Nest keeps your records organised. An accountant can still prepare formal accounts, and the CSV download helps them.

Who can see the expenses?

Only the society admin.

Can I download the data?

Yes. Amenity income can be downloaded as a CSV file for any date range.
